Arousal: used to describe physiological activation or increase autonomic responses (increased brain activity, sweating, heart rate) A person"s interpretation of physical changes leads that person to feel an emotion. Physical changes occur in distinct patterns that translate directly into speci c emotions. Perceive speci c patters of bodily responses and as a result of that perception, feel emotion ex: see a bear > heart pound > feel fear. Autonomic nervous system is too slow to account for the subjective feelings of emotions. Mind is quick to experience, while the body is much slower.
