Describe 3 or 4 ways that authors we have read have operationalized happiness or well- being. Hedonia, or positive affect, was measured by asking participants how happy or excited they felt at this very moment, with the responses being, not at all, somewhat, very much, or extremely. Eudaimonia was measured using three measures from the casp-19, a quality of life scale that tracks certain aspects of life such as: control, autonomy, and self- realization. This operationalization may have been more value adequate in that it looked at happiness in relation to what the individual believed happiness was. They also performed daily surveys that measures the positive and negative affect of a patient (panas - positive and negative affect scale). Additionally the measure they design only uses proportions much as very much and extremely, which may cause answers to be skewed. The same goes for the study done by lowenstein et al.
