Norm: rules of what behavior is socially acceptable. Folkway: social custom that people normally conform to but feel little pressure to do so. Wearing socks that are the same color, speaking to someone when introduced to them: more: a stronger held custom that when broken is a bigger deal and gets a bigger reaction. Libel or slander (cussing someone out in public), sometimes illegal, nude in public. You don"t express love for family members through incest. Model: breakdown of thing into component parts to show how they interrelate. Encoder: takes the idea and puts it into terms someone can understand: code = writing, speaking, usually the same person as the source: message: consists of code, content, and treatment. Code: any meaningful structure or grouping of symbols (language, facial expression, braille) Verbal, usually more acceptable than treatment in double blind. Can re ect your style, personality, interests; usually nonverbal (polite, rude, straight forward)
