Performance: believed to be a function of ability and motivation. Mcclelland"s theory of needs: theories provide the foundation for much research as well as new theories; still used by managers because of intuitive appeal. Self - actualization -- drive to become what we are capable of becoming, living up oto our potential and the accompanying feelings of self-fulfillment. Esteem -- internal well-being including self-respect, achievement, autonomy, independence and external well being including recognition, acceptance and friendship.
