Fertility issues: we will arrive at 8 billion by 2025, different issues: industrialized world: fertility on decline labor force issues, economic consumption less developed world: limiting fertility. Socities with low fertility: decline in family-based agriculture and preindustrial enterprises diminished importance of children, children are no longer productive assets rapid urbanization: decline of extended family, new values that stress: individualism, secularism, achievement vs. ascription. Fertility patterns in the us: no politician talks about fertility. Why have us fertility rates changed: except for the 1950s when there was an increase in the versatility rate, the rate has gone down since. There are several factors that can cause this: macro level factors-improvements in contraception for moms and an increase in opportunities for women in higher education. Working class and immigrant children: excluded from idealized belief in childhood forced to believe that they were inferior because of poverty or foreign origins, entire family needed to work, still true in the global economy.
