Institutional environment: laws, rules, organizations, and the government in which individual navigate. Inequality: the difference in endowments and valued good held by individuals or families, such as wealth, income, and well being. Life chance: individual"s long term possibilities and potential. Intergeneration social mobility: the movement of individual"s from the social position of their parents into their own social position as adults. Blau and duncan(1967), and diprete(2002) conclude that if you"re a member of a higher status group, then you have the advantage over others, but that depends on where you end up on life. Glass ceiling: metaphor used to describe the lack of progress some genders(women mostly) have made moving into value exclusion from the opportunity to compete for a position of authority. Power: the ability to influence the behavior of others.
