Researchers and scientists alike are constantly working towards discovering the next-best thing, and amongst many, the concept of newborn genetic screening is quickly approaching on the horizon. The negative effects of genetic screening greatly outnumber the benefits, and if this unethical violation of human rights is pursued, it will prove an unprecedented and feared advancement in the future of biotechnology. The genetic screening of newborns is a program that identifies treatable genetic disorders in infants. Through the process, early action can be taken to treat these disorders, and possibly reduce or eliminate symptoms that might otherwise cause a lifetime of disability.
