Paradigms shape research by providing broad perspectives that help explain many different aspects of social life. Macro-level analysis= looks at trends among and between large groups and societies. Ex: research the ways that language use has changed over time or in social media outlets. Micro-level analysis= sociologists who study small groups and individual interactions. Ex: a micro-level study might look at the accepted rules of conversation in various groups such as teenagers or business professionals.
