Document Summary

4. 1 basic muscle physiology and the effects of strength training. Muscles make up more than 40% of your body mass. You depend on your muscle for movement and because of their mass, they are the site of a large portion of the energy reactions that take place in the body. Muscular strength is the ability to generate force during a maximal efforts. Muscular endurance is the ability to resist figure while holding or repeating muscular contraction for a long time. Muscles move the body and enable it to exert force because they move the skeleton. When a muscle contracts (shortens), it moves a bone by pulling on the tendon that attached the muscle to the bone. When a muscle relaxes (lengthens), the tension places on the tendon is released and the bone moves back to or closer to its starting position. Muscle physiology: muscles consist of individual muscle fibers (aka muscle cells) that are connected in bundles.
