Psychometrician is a specialist in psychology or education who develops and evaluates psychological tests. Standardised procedure: rests largely on directions for administration. Inferences about relevant behaviours must be able to be made though: does not need to copy behaviour just be able to predict other behaviours - essential characteristic. Every test will always reflect some degree of measurement error - x = T + e; x=observed score, t=true score, e= positive or negative error component; e can be reduced but never eliminated. Test results do not represent a thing, they portray an abstraction useful in predicting non-test behaviours. Does not matter how they compare to someone, just that they meet a criterion. In general the ultimate purpose of a test is to predict additional behaviours. Information about eye movements can predict personality characteristics.
