During hottest hours of the day , when air temperatures often exceeded the lethal limit for the species, - the buzz of cicada could be heard. The heat causes rapid awter loss and dehydration. To survive and reproduce, organisms must maintain appropriate internal concentrations of water and dissolved substances. Water relations is how organisms maintain water intake and water loss. Most organisms that live in terrestrial environments deal with water balance so (water intake and loss) But aquatic organisms, deal with high salinity. Concentration gradients influence the movement of water between an organisms and its environment. As the amount of water vapour in the surrounding air increases, the water concentration gradient from organisms to the air is reduced. Relative humidity: measure of the water content of air relative to its content at saturation. = water vapour density/ saturation water vapour density * 100. Is measured directly as the mass of water vapour per unit volume of air.
