Turnus is angry: he has still not fulfilled his promise, he addresses king latinus. Turnus talks to the king: decides to go and fight aeneas for both the kingdom and lavinia"s hands, king latinus protests at this at first. The king and queen are against turnus" decision: wanting turnus to surrender and protect his life. Turnus ignores their pleas: he chooses his honor over his life shows the side of a homeric hero in doing this. Latinus draws up the appropriate treaty: does it with aeneas"s consent. The next day, the armies gather as spectators on either side of a field in front of the city. Juno worries about turnus because she suspects that aeneas outmatches him. Juno calls upon juturna: (turnus" sister) tells her to watch out for turnus" safety. Latinus and aeneas go onto the battlefield: both vow to uphold their side of the pact.
