Refers to the meaning we make of one text depending on the meanings we have drawn from other signs we have encountered. Meaning is grounded in the relationships we nd between different texts. Polysemy refers to the fact that signs can be open to a variety of interpretations. The different types of meaning drawn may be denotative or connotative.
