Conflict dynamics interpersonal conflict: the process that occurs when one person, group, or organizational subunit frustrates the goal attainment of another. Intergroup bias: when views positively about their own in- group and less so for the out-group in which they are not a member of. Happens because: self-esteem, pride of own group a high emphasis on groups/teams. When a unit is dependent on another unit to get their own goals accomplished, conflict occurs because of: interaction a higher power unit may abuse their power. Power: when one unit is more completely dependent on the other unit. Status: when a lower status unit is dependent on the higher status. Open-ended assignments are more susceptible to a variety of interpretations and opinions. Avoiding avoiding: a conflict management style where there is low assertiveness of one"s own interests and low cooperation with the other party.
