Following the death of conservative duplisee, jean lesasge of the liberals comes to power and launches the quiet revolution to create modernized quebec. With this the church loses much of its power (healthcare and schools). Unions began to grow, and xcatholic unions became secular. Political ideas on the quiet revolution include: 1. Modernism and liberalism (supported by trudeau) it isn"t easy to modernize, suck it up and prove you are up to it attitude: 2. Nationalism and leftism (anglo-canadian opinions) feel they are being exploited as workers and french canadians, results in revolutionary marxist groups appearing, by 1970s people and all unions support quebec separation. All the employers at the time would all come to quebec because they were cheaper and behind the times (no unions, catholic church keeping their wages down) Significance: marked the end of catholic domination and finally allowed quebec to modernize, also marked the beginning of the liberal rule and the beginning of quebec nationalism.
