Reading 6 - pojman a defense of ethical objectivism . Attempts to analyze the structure of ethical relativism by two things: the diversity thesis and the dependency thesis. He will examine the two types of ethical relativism: (1) subjectivism and, (2) conventionalism, argues that both have serious types of problems. He believes in taking into account the insights of relativism while maintaining an objectivist position (will outline 2 objectivist arguments) An argument of relativism: moral rightness and wrongness of actions vary from society to society, therefore there are no universal moral standards held by all societies. P: this is the diversity thesis (acknowledges the fact that moral rules differ from society to society) Sexual practices vary over time and place (some permit homosexual behavior whilst others condemn it) Asserts that individual acts are right or wrong depending on the nature of the society from which they emanate.
