Reading response one: the secret lives of toilets. The secret lives of toilets: a public discourse on private" space in the city. This article discusses the importance of reclaiming real" public washrooms. The authors believes that public washrooms are places where bodily needs meets social desires. Toronto have limited and expensive lands, therefore the existing public washrooms are disappearing. Instead, now the so call public washrooms" are in coffee shops, restaurants and shopping malls. As mention in the article, most people who need to use the public washroom can only use it during shopping and business hours. Real" public washroom where you do not have to be dress a certain way, if you have money, or making purchases. As the city becomes more urbanized, the more they are afraid that public washrooms will be a place where people commit in activities where the norm will dim morally wrong.
