Critical thinking is a complex phenomenon that can be de ned as a process and as a set of skills: emphasize use of logical & reasoning to make accurate clinical judgements & decisions. Nurses recognize issue exists, analyzes information, evaluates information, and draws con- clusions. Consultation with patients, nurses consider what"s important in situation, imagines & explores alternative solutions, considers ethical principles, & makes informed decisions about how to proceed. Evidence-informed knowledge knowledge based on research or clinical expertise makes you an informed critical thinker. Critical thinking requires not only cognitive skills i. e. interpretation, analysis, inference, evaluation, explanation, and self-regulation: req. nurse"s habit (disposition) to ask questions, be well informed, to be honest in facing. When applied to nursing, core critical thinking skills & critical thinking dispositions reveal com- personal biases, and to always be willing to reconsider & think differently about issues plex nature of clinical decision-making process.
