Culture: ways of thinking, acting, and material objects that shape a peoples way of life. Nonmaterial culture: ideas created by members if a society: ideas from art to the constitution. Material culture: physical things created by members of the society: anything from beavertail donuts to satellites in space. Evolved and developed cultural ways instead of depending on instincts. Efficient survival schemes: changing the natural environment to benefit themselves. Culture, nation, state, and society culture: the ideas, values, and artifacts that make up a shared way of life. Nation: political entity, country or state, people who share a culture, language, ancestry, history state, political entity in a territory with borders society, the organized interactions of people within a nation/state who share a culture. Nation building: creating a sense of nationhood that supersedes multicultural loyalties. Half are spoken each by less than 10,000. Many languages facing extinction due to migration, electronics, and global economy.
