HSOC 408 Chapter 4: Planning a Research Project and Formulating Research Questions
Document Summary
[chapter 4: planning a research project and formulating research questions] Use supervisors to the fullest extent and do not hesitate to seek help when i"m stuck or getting behind. Get to know what my supervisors is willing to do. Create a research timetable that outlines each stage of the research process with the advice of my supervisor. Complete research and data collection as soon as possible. A high quality and in-depth analysis takes much longer than i may anticipate, and more time will allow me to discover trends. Research questions must be formed through the lens of a specific social science (i. e. sociological, political). The purpose of research questions is to avoid losing focus during your research project. To ensure that everything you do during data collection is actually a worthwhile contribution to the final product rather than an irrelevant waste of time. I will be asked to outline my proposed research design and methods i will use.
