Consanguine family: family unit consisting of a woman, her dependent offspring and the women"s brothers. Conjugal family: family of 2 or more married or common law ppl, including same sex ppl, with their dependent children. Nuclear family: a married or common law couple and their dependent children. Polygynous family: family consisting of a man and his multiple wives, along with their dependent children. Polyandrous family: family consisting of women and her multiple husbands, along w/ their dependent children. Reliance on group living for survival is a basic characteristic inherited by ancestors. Household: basic residential unit where economic production, consumption, childrearing, shelter etc. organized and implemented; may or may not be synonymous with family.
