Now children had to be provided with transportation, school supplies etc parents started providing for them vs other way around: parents in developing countries still expect kids to take care of parents. Models of parent-child effects: learning depends on experience empiricism, children are blank slate john locke"s idea of tabula rasa, people have pre existing knowledge, especially analytic forms rationalisation. Parents monitor and write on childs blank slate. Effects on child flow unidirectionally from parents to child. Evolved from work on child temperament & advances in sociological theory. This is assumed by most child development theories. Child cries in response to parents behaviour interchanges shows power and effects flowing from parents to child. Parents influence child and child influences conditions of interactions with parents.
