Adt knew of democracy being inevitable, however he feared this would result in complete erosion of aristocratic values. Adt noted the french revolution ended with despotic values while the american revolution did not. Adt arrived in new york during a time when the aristocratic democracy was a very lively issue. -land was not owned through hereditary means but instead for those who had more money. Democracy = government of people, aristocracy = government of rich. -the american government had separation and balance of power as well as true freedom, and did not have many of the fears adt had in the french government. Adt thus studied american in hopes that the results would be able to guide france in the right direction.
