This study is a point of departure in regards to how these individuals face and solve these problems with an argument that reconstructing the areas that shut down are highly influenced by rural ideologies. Since the 70s, canadians have faced massive numbers of plant shutdowns which signal a permanent structural change within the economy and are not temporary as it may seem since long-term unemployment continues to increase. However, these closures also affect the community as a whole in regards to their other businesses along with property value. That being said, the long-term decline of manufacturing and the farm crisis continues to be an issue for these communities sometimes the factories having a greater impact than the farm.
