Module #3- chapter 7- entrepreneurship and starting a small business. Innovation: the risk is high for an entrepreneurial venture, entrepreneurship involves substantial innovation such as new products, new production methods, new markets, and new forms of organization. Why people take the entrepreneurial challenge: new idea, process, or product, some entrepreneurs are driven by a firm belief, that they can produce a better product, or a current product at a lower cost than anybody else. The previous decade saw the avg. real incomes of canadian employees drop and unemployment fluctuate therefore, this encouraged many women to start a business: lack of promotion opportunities. Most positions are dominated by men however this is improving slowly: women returning to the workforce. Many women who return to the job market after raising a family find that their skills are outdated. They also encounter subtle age discrimination which encourage many to try self- employment: family and personal responsibility.
