Document Summary

It is difficult to ensure that results are representative of the entire population. Idea 2: randomize: example: if you add salt to soup and do not stir it, then the location of the salt is not random. First difficult to complete: some individuals are hard or expensive to locate and could be impractical. Second populations rarely stand still: people are born and dying all the time; therefore, by the time the results are compiled, the information has changed. Third taking a census can be more complicated than sampling. Models use mathematical formulas to represent reality. Parameters are the key numbers in those models. A parameter used in a model for population is sometimes called (redundantly) a population parameter. Use summaries of the data to estimate the population parameters. And summary found in data is a statistic sometimes you"ll also see sample statistics: ex. parameters mean and standard deviation.
