In a way, it is like viewing a child through new eyes. It is challenging to really observe and get to know a child again and to resist previous ideas of who that child is. Observation is the most effective starting point for thinking about children, considering our own roles with children, and, as early childhood educators, questioning how we see. Best practice research has found that documenting ordinary moments is a very useful learning tool. recording and examining an ordinary moment provides an opportunity for critical reflection that may often be overlooked. Forman, g. , hall, e. , & berglund, k. (2001). Focusing on ordinary moments allows us to slow down and be still.
