Emotions play a major role in all relationships. An emotion is the physical feeling you have when reacting to a situation. Emotions are fundamental to effective and ethical communication. They also play a significant role in how you develop, maintain, and strengthen interpersonal relationships. Love is a combination of joy and trust. Despair is a combination of fear and sadness. Emotions that occur at the primary level such as anger in response to being hit, can be described as instinctive: these responses are primary which include happy, sad, angry, and afraid. As an adult, self-regulation and experience combined with cultural expectations, have taught you that it is better to control aggression and anger and that you may express them as disappointed instead.
