Ethical theory: guides individuals through making choices in morally complex sitches, dimension not covered in chap 1 = Medical goods would be unavailable were it not for societal resources/decisions: ex. Distribuive jusice = how scarce goods can be distributed +fairly within a society: we have interests that coincide with interests of others (ex. clean water) and some that conlict (ex. not every can go to university) Rawls says circumstances of jusice is the combo of shared interests and potenial conlicts arises when cooperaion is necessary and possible. Canadian health care system: costs rising, goods are scarce, diicult choices must be made (who gets hospital bed vs. who gets sent home, health care systems divided into three levels: Where public health care prioriies are id-ed, policies developed, and budget allocaion decisions made. Where local health care iniiaive are developed and hospital administraive decisions made. Good decisions at dif levels someimes are in tension with another: ex.
