Document Summary

Much of what we do we learn from experience. One of our most important git is adaptability = our capacity of learn new behaviors that help us cope with change. What is learnable we can potenially teach. What has been learned we can potenially change by new learning. Learning = a relaively permanent behavior change due to experience. We learn by associaion: our minds naturally connect events that occur in sequence, ex. you see and smell bread, eat it and like it. The next ime you see/smell bread, you will expect to like it again. Associaive learning = learning that certain events occur together. The events may be two simuli (as in classical condiioning) or a response and its consequences (as in operant condiioning: ex. Seals associates slapping and barking with a herring treat. Condiioning = the process of learning associaions: in classical condiioning, we learn to associate two simuli and thus to anicipate events.
