Document Summary
Biochemical units of heredity that make up chromosomes. Genes provide he code for creating the proteins that form our body"s building blocks. How does the environment activate or deactivate genes. Those genetics instructions need something to deactivate them. Epigenome influence gene expression by turning or the gene or turning them off. Methyl groups: are chemical when they are present, they will deactivate silence or reduce the activity of the gene. Acetyl groups: are chemicals and when they are present, they activate the gene. The environment plays an important role in the formation of these methyl groups. Is t he scientific study of all the factors that influence ad effect gene expression without changing the dna. We do not transmit the genome we transmit the epigenome in the future. Their goals are to identify the gene. They do it by studying the gene. How they do it is by comparing the dna.
