Average age of becoming a grandparent is now 55, approx. a decade older than previous generations. Carl jung called midlife afternoon of life . Middle adulthood: generally considered to be the developmental period beginning at approximately 40 years and extending to about 60-65 years of age. Involves balancing work and relationship responsibilities in the midst of the physical and psychological changes associated with aging . In midlife, a serious accident, loss or illness may be a wake up call and produce. A major restructuring of time and a reassessment of life"s priorities.
