Political ideology: a package of interrelated ideas and beliefs about government, society, the economy, and human nature that inspire and affect political action. Each ideology provides a different perspective that is used to understand and evaluate how the world actually works. An idea for how the world should be, some ideologies challenge and seek to transform the existing basic power arrangements while others provide justifications for the existing order. Should not be taken as the truth, many ideologies have been used as an excuse for unjust acts. Enlightenment (europe): believed that through reason and science people can understand the world and progress can be achieved by consciously shaping the world and its institutions.
