Studies show that urchins might determine where kelp forests are located . figure 9. 1 & Population: a population is a dynamic entity whose distribution and abundance varies in space and time. It is a group of individuals of a species that are living and interacting in a particular area and interact with one another. We can report population abundance by population size (# individuals in a population) or population density (#individuals per unit area) Abundance change over time and space: figure 9. 3. The number of individuals in a population changes over time and at any given time , abundance also differs from one place to another. Some populations differ little in abundance over time and space while other differ moer. Individuals move from one population to another , sometimes traveling great distances. Orgaism differ greatly in their capacity for movement.
