Document Summary

Pun says that the future will resemble the past. Pun is supposed to be an assumpion that is required by each and every inducive argument. Pun means merely that the future will resemble the past in some respect. Pun is an assumpion- a presupposiion- that underlies the whole project of inducive inference. It uses observaions to make predicions and to say what generalizaions are true. Scienists use inducion to evaluate hypotheses in the light of evidence. Comparing hypothesis among a set of them and selecing the most plausible ones in the light of those observaions. (h1) all emeralds are green (h2)all emeralds are green unil the year 2050; thereater, they are blue.
