Document Summary
Concerns the physiological and psychological processes underlying the initiation of behaviours that direct organisms towards specific goals. E,g, thoughts, feelings, sensations and bodily processes that lead to goal directed behaviour. E. g. when the body lacks water, cells release chemical compounds that maintain the structure and fluid level of cells receptors in the body respond by sending messages to the brain telling that you are thirsty. A biological trigger that tells we may be deprived of something and causes us to seek out what is needed, such as food or water. Motivation contributes to homeostasis: the body"s physiological processes that allow it to maintain consistent internal states in response to the outer environment. Motivation is not only influenced by current needs, but also the anticipation of future needs. E. g. jessica eating lots of candies while she studying so her body have sufficient energy. Hypothalamus can be a switch of on and off for hunger.
