Hebrews-deviancy was attributed to possession of the person by bad spirits, after god in his wrath had withdrawn protection. Exorcism can from the belief that abnormal behavior was caused by possession. Trepanning-one popular theory was that it was a way of treating disorders attributed to demons within the cranium. Individual would return to normal by creating an opening through which evil spirits could escape. Kidd suggested that trepanning were done to relieve pressure resulting from depressed fractures caused by war clubs.
