Cannabinoid drugs consist of psychoactive substances that act on cannabinois receptors in the nervous system. Cannabis: plants contain naturally occurring cannabinoids most commonly cultivated for psychoactive use. Three types of cannabis plants, that are referred to as hemp: cannabis sativa most commonly used; contain the greatest concentration of delta-9- Flowers and leaves of cannabis plans contain trichomes: small hairlike structures with glands that release phytocannabinoids, the biologically active substance in cannabis plants. Phytocannabinoids include delta-9-thc, delta-8-thc, cannabidiol, cannabinol, n- alkamide, and b-caryophyllene. Marijuana: dried cannabis flowers, leaves, and stems compressed and rolled for smoking. Hashish: condensed preparation of cannabis that primarily contains the trichome resins from the plant contain greater concentrations of delta-9-thc than other phytocannabinoids. Herbal marijuana alternatives: laboratory-synthesized cannabinoid receptor agonists e. g. compound win52212-2.
