Homer titans oceanus and tethys responsible for the origin of gods with the world as a flat disc with hills, its rim touched by the dome of the heavens. Hesiod he asked the muses, daughters of zeus, to reveal the secrets of the creation of the world: chaos came first and then gaia and tartarus, and the god eros. From chaos, erebus (gloom in tartarus) + night come into being. Night bore aether and day: everyone except gaia came from chaos. Aristophanes (5th bce) playwright : chaos, night, erebus and tartarus were first. Ge, aer (lower atmosphere) and uranus (sky) did not exist. Erebus + night made day and aether. Ovid 700 years after hesiod states that a god or higher form of nature created the order of the universe. Myths are more poetic and inspirational than used as fact: gaia brought forth uranus, equal to herself, to cover her completely.
