A group is two or more people interacting interdependently to achieve a common goal. Interaction the most basic aspect of a group. Group memberships are important because: groups have tremendous influence on us, provides context in which we can exert influence on others. Informal work groups: groups that emerge naturally in response to the common interests of organizational members. Norming (resolving issues and develop social consensus) Phase 1 first meeting: critical in setting agendas, assumptions, approaches, and precedents develop. Midpoint transition: cha(cid:374)ge i(cid:374) the group(cid:859)s approa(cid:272)h & how the group manages the change is critical, transition may consolidate previously acquired information/mark a completely new approach. Phase 2 played out decisions and approached adopted at midpoint: concludes with final meeting. Prepare carefully for the first meeting: stress motivation and excitement about the project, as long as people are working, do not look for radical progress during phase 1, manage the midpoint transition carefully.
