Document Summary
The two most fundamental forms of learning -- classical (pavlovian) and instrumental (operant) conditioning. Two types of conditioning: classical (or pavlovian) conditioning is one of the fundamental ways we learn about the world around us. The result is that the conditioned stimulus begins to elicit a conditioned response (cr). The law of effect is the idea that instrumental or operant responses are influenced by their effects. , when a behavior has a positive (satisfying) effect or consequence, it is likely to be repeated in the future. However, when a behavior has a negative (painful/annoying) consequence, it is less likely to be repeated in the future. Effects that increase behaviors are referred to as reinforcers, and effects that decrease them are referred to as punishers. Law of effect is the idea that instrumental or operant responses are influenced by their effects.
