Type of research that is not concerned with relationships between variables. Researcher may measure several different variables but the goal of the study is to describe each variable separately. The resulting measurements can be classified into 2 distinct data structures that also help to classify different research methods and different statistical techniques. Observing the two variables as they exist naturally for a set of individuals to examine the relationship between the variables.
