Document Summary

Marx: marx concluded that all of history was driven by class conflict, and as societies moved from one form of production to another, the classes in control changed. Each worker is paid less than the price of the finished profit, so the bourgeoisie earn a profit. The labour process deprives workers of the ownership of their own products and distances them from productive processes, others, and themselves. Inverse interdependence principle: the economic well being of the bourgeoisie requires the economic deprivation and exploitation of workers. Exclusion principle: the bourgeoisie must keep pressure on workers by excluding them from access to benefits and resources. Workers become too scared of unemployment to start an upheaval. Parties: associations and organizations that give people non-economic power ans influence (political parties, formations, etc. ) Status groups: sets of people who share a social position in society, with a common degree of prestige, esteem, and honour (shared religion, education, ethnicity)
