Social structure: any recurring pattern of social behaviour; or speci cally, the ordered interrelationship between the di erent elements of a social system. Evidenced in observable movements and actions of individuals but cannot be reduced to those. Norms: the rules or expectations that serve as common guidelines for behaviour in daily life, telling us what kinds of behaviour are appropriate or inappropriate in speci c social situations. Social institutions: a kind of social structure made up of a umber of relationships and used to achieve certain social goals i. e. ; schools, hospitals, family. Social scripts: the unwritten guidelines that people follow during social interaction in order to ful l the expectations associated with the situation and the roles of the actors involved. Sanction: a gesture used to reinforce social norms. Rewarding behaviour (positive sanction) punishing norm-contravening (negative sanction)
