The history: tens of thousands of aboriginal children for over a century, residential schooling (anglican, someone would come to notify you, then take you away (indian agent, Priest, mounted police, etc. : all across canada, younger and older kids (ex as young as 6) Separated by a fence, if you went close to the fence to talk you got in trouble. Would only get the see each other on christmas and catholic. Sad for a lot of these kids, as they were new or handmade clothes that they were especially proud of: each student was assigned a number. They would move with the # on them: world dominated by fear, loneliness and lack of affection, kids would cry silently at night, staff would never smile at children. If you got caught crying everyone would get in trouble: poor diets, poor educations, abuse, the goal of these institutions was to turn the children into farmers and farmers wives.
