26 views5 pages

Document Summary

Anatomy study of structures and relationships of structures. In past this was studied by dissection, now we also use imaging techniques. Anatomy deals with structures of the body, physiology deals with functions of body parts. Inspection observes the body for any abnormalities. Palpitation feels the body surfaces with the hands. Auscultation listens to the body sounds to evaluate the functioning of organs. Percussion taps on the body surfaces with the fingertips and listens to the resulting sounds. Levels of body organization: chemical level atoms and molecules, cellular level molecules combine to form cells. Muscle cells, blood cells, nerve cells, etc: tissue level groups of cells and the materials surrounding them work together to perform specific functions. Epithelial tissue covers body surfaces, lines hollow cavities, forms glands. Connective tissue connects and supports the body and distributes blood to other tissues. Muscular tissue contracts to make body move and generate heat.
