Liberal democratic politics: a communist second world. One party states, ruling communist parties: a developing third world. Five regime types of the modern world: western polyarchies. Liberal democracies (ex: north america, western europe, australia) Polyarchy characterized by combination of two features: high tolerance of opposition, opportunity for participation is widespread > regular, competitive, multi party elections. Majority democracies: organized along parliamentary lines according to the westminster model.
