Thomas szasz found no organic causes except general paresis. General paresis memory loss, poor thinking ability, death: caused by syphilis; symptoms could be taken care of, but would come back no one made the connection. Szasz"s alternative is that mental disorders are failures of adjustments to life events; behaviour is the problem, not symptom. Diagnosis: two or more of the following must be present:
