Document Summary

Basic learning mechanisms: all cognitive systems, intelligent systems, and non-human animals rely on fundamental processes of associative learning. Categorical induction is when inductions are made on concepts or categories. Inductive arguments also contain conclusions the actual inductive inference and usually concerns possible projection of a predicate: ex, premise: boys use gaba as a neurotransmitter, conclusion: therefore, girls use gaba as a neurotransmitter. Causal factors: sometimes we make inductions based on our understanding of how the world works. Is similar to the similarity coverage model in that it emphasizes similarity but differs in that it downplays the role of category inclusion. It reduces the role of similarity and category coverage and replaces it with the notion of feature coverage when a premise and conclusion share many features. It works by activating more features and those features are eligible to be projected into the conclusion category.
