At the heart of sociology is a special point of view called the sociological perspective. Peter berger seeing the general in the particular. sociologists identify general patterns in the behaviour of particular individuals. Sociological perspective the special point of view of sociology that sees general patterns of society in the lives of particular people. The behaviour of a particular individual must be understood in terms of the social, cultural, or structural context of military life. Men, protestants, wealthy people, and the unmarried had much higher suicide rates than did women, catholics and jews, the poor, and married people. Strong social ties = low suicide rates. Low social ties/ individualistic categories of people = high suicide rates. How society shapes individual lives: living on the margins of society and living through a social crisis.
